Prepare a small lab plan
Choose a learning account, Region and clear resource name. Decide what the server will do and how you will connect. Check current pricing and eligibility rather than assuming an older video’s offer still applies.
Write a cleanup plan before launch. Include the instance and associated storage or network resources so you can review the complete lab afterwards.
Review the launch configuration
Select a trusted image and suitable instance type. Review the subnet, security group and storage configuration. Permit administration only from the sources that need access.
Authentication depends on the image and chosen connection method. Keep private keys private and follow current AWS instructions for the operating system you selected.
Validate and clean up
Once the instance is ready, verify its status and connect using the documented method. Confirm the operating system and complete one small task before adding more configuration.
When the exercise is finished, remove resources you no longer need and inspect associated volumes and addresses. Termination and storage deletion behaviour depend on configuration.
Try it yourself
Create a launch checklist and a cleanup checklist before attempting the video lab. Identify every setting whose cost or access impact you need to understand.
A common question
Can I follow every old console screenshot exactly?
Console screens and account offers change. Use the video for context and the current AWS documentation for the available settings.
